Note: All RICE baskets, both large and small, are handmade from Raffia, which naturally varies in color, affecting the dyeing process. Sometimes the dye is light, other times more intense, meaning no two baskets are exactly alike. The same goes for the shape, where there may be slight variations. We believe this is part of the charm, showing that the product is handmade. If you order multiple baskets at once, we will send those that are closest in shade and shape. Unfortunately, we cannot provide photos of the different variations.

About the material: Raffia fibers are an amazing natural material derived from palm leaves. Rice’s raffia originates from Madagascar, where all raffia products are crafted with care. The products are made in two villages in the mountains of Madagascar, contributing to better and more resources for the villagers. The production supports more than 300 families on the Red Island. Since raffia is a natural material and the baskets are handmade, each product will vary slightly in color, shape, and size. Colors will fade if the product is exposed to constant sunlight. Avoid water as it may cause the colors to bleed.
